Michael is multidisciplinary digital media professional with a primary focus in cinematography, photography, and colour grading. Based in both Ottawa and Toronto, he has worked on a wide variety of film and photography projects is capable of adapting to any artistic venture across both mediums. With additional expertise in video editing, sound design, and audio mixing/mastering, Michael is a rare individual capable of handling all aspects of digital content creation.
Past and current clients include Saudi Arabian Airlines, Lloyd's Insurance, Allam Advisory Group, Canadian-Arab Business Council, Toronto Metropolitan University, and more. Pro-bono clients include Somali Hope Foundation and Multi-Faith Housing Initiative. Michael has shot numerous short films including Saudade (2021) which went on to win numerous accolades internationally. Equally interested both in the creative and the technical, when not the director of photography himself Michael also regularly works as a camera assistant on both narrative and commercial sets.
Michael holds a BFA in Film Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), where he also worked as a cinematography teaching assistant and graduated with distinction, receiving both the Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award and the Picture Shop Award in Cinematography. He is an Affiliate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers and an Associate Member of the Color Society International.
